(wrote february 15th)
my grandfather passed away early this morning.
nash and i thankfully got to go and see him one last time. 3 days after we left he passed away.
i am so thankful for the time that we got to spend with him
and that nash got to meet his great grandpa.
although he won't remember - the pictures and the one video
i got will be like small treasures to our family.
when we were there i couldn't help but be taken back when he was holding nash.
all i could think about was how nash has just started his life
and how my grandpa was ending his.
nash is 180 days old.
my grandpa was 23,302 days old.
a few things that i want to remember and also remind me of my grandpa.
randy travis - we would get in his truck with him and sing till our hearts were content.
every time we went out to eat he would always order a steak and lobster tail. every.single.time.
he had such a charismatic personality that entertained people. he was really a hysterical guy.
when we were little all the adults would play cards for hours on end.
my brother and i would drive his golf cart all around his huge yard.
that was heaven on earth for me when i was a kid. pretty sure my brother feels the same way.
when he met nash his eyes lit up. he would just stare at him with a light in his eyes.
i could tell how happy it made him that he got to meet him.
he was determined to come up with a nickname for nash. his final choice was "mouse".
you will be missed grandpa jim.
life is too short. make your days count. that is what i am reminding myself of daily.
:( Thinking of you during this tough time. I'm glad you have that last visit as a great memory.
